TEIA
UX | UI
Téia is a platform that aims to connect strengths, creating a safe and powerful network of women in an environment of collaboration and support.
Through communication and information, we empower women with real possibilities for action so they can identify, avoid, or escape situations of domestic violence.
We make it clear that we, women, are never alone.
Téia is the Greek goddess of light and brilliance. It also represents the vision of the future. We chose this name as an allusion to a web (“teia” in Portuguese), as a set of interconnected actions forming a network.
The project was developed during Minerva Jam UFRJ 2020, a Hackathon promoted by the UFRJ Computer Science program, with the goal of turning innovative ideas into reality that could create positive impacts in the world.
The challenge of this edition focused on the pandemic in relation to violence against women. The key question was:
“Covid-19, social isolation, and abusive relationships: am I safe at home?”
From this scenario, me and the designer Gabriel Delman had 36 hours to ideate and prototype a solution.

Winner Project
Téia App was selected as the winner of the Hackathon Minerva Jam, standing out among 22 teams. Later, it was also awarded a bronze medal at the Brazil Design Awards in the Positive Impact Design category for Student Projects.
Process
We made an online form about domestic violence against women that resulted in 176 responses. Based on the information collected, we were able to better understand the realities and complexities surrounding the challenge theme. Through the analysis of the responses, we defined the vision for the solution based on the main findings from the research. We created personas to better understand the different profiles of people who could use the application, defined the main features that best matched their needs, and developed a flowchart to map the navigation in the smoothest way possible.
